Covering 505 hectares and established in January 1995 to protect mangroves and dry forests, this refuge encompasses seven coastal ecosystems, including the Rocky Zone. Within it lies Junquillal Beach, a 2 km stretch with amenities such as picnic areas, camping, trails, a bird‑watching tower, and more. It features two dry forest seasons: green in the rainy season and dry in the dry season.
